All dogs and wolf hybrid six months old or over must be licensed before JANUARY 31 of each year in the town where it resides, or, if adopted, after the dog has been with the family for 10 days. No license shall be issued for any dog until the applicant has filed a certificate with the Town Clerk proof that such dog has been immunized against rabies.
Online licensing is now available on the state's website here:
For in person licensing, please come to the town office on Wednesday afternoons from 1-5pm and they will be happy to assist you and your best friend(s) get things squared away.
Thank you for keeping our town safe. The fees support the following agencies:
- Local Animal Control Officers and State Humane Agents
- Investigation of animal cruelty complaints and enforcement of animal welfare laws
- Compliance with rabies vaccination of dogs
- Care for sick and injured stray animals
- Return of lost dogs to their owners
Dog licenses expire on December 31st but you have until January 31st to relicense with no late fees. After that, you will have to pay the registration fee PLUS $25 per dog ..... or be summonsed to court. If you go to court, you will pay the registration fee + the $25 late fee + a court fine.
Please inform the Town Clerk of dogs that are no longer in your possession so that you do not get placed on the warrant.
